Terms & Refunds
How the trial, one-time purchases, compatibility updates and refunds work.
Prelaunch draft. The effective date and remaining production details are pending. The purchase terms below describe the planned paid service; checkout is not yet available.
1. The developer and these terms
MuteSkip is provided by Ninghao Wang, an independent individual developer, at Chenghan Taoyuan Garden, Wulian Community, Longgang District, Shenzhen, Guangdong, China. “We,” “us,” and “our” refer to that developer. Product support and refund requests: support@muteskip.org.
These terms describe your use of the extension and the product license. You must have the legal capacity to enter into the agreement. If you act for an organization, you must be authorized to do so. MuteSkip is independent of Google and YouTube and is not endorsed by either company.
Where a purchase is completed through Creem as merchant of record, Creem is the transaction seller identified on the checkout and receipt. Its Buyer Terms govern that transaction in addition to these product terms. Applicable mandatory law takes priority; Creem's Buyer Terms take priority where they conflict with our product terms for a Creem transaction.
2. What MuteSkip does
MuteSkip is a desktop Chrome extension for the YouTube website. It can mute the tab during an ad and restore its prior mute setting afterward. It can also attempt a browser-generated click when YouTube provides an enabled native Skip button. The two controls are independent. Auto-skip is off by default.
The current version acts only on the YouTube video tab you are viewing in a focused, non-minimized Chrome window. It does not mute or skip ads in background or minimized tabs. It does not block ad delivery, fast-forward ads, or bypass unskippable ads. It does not change the video's volume level.
Auto-skip uses Chrome's installation-time debugger permission. Chrome displays a debugging notice during the operation. Dismissing that notice, opening DevTools for the tab, or conflicting browser tools can interrupt auto-skip. YouTube changes can affect detection and clicking, so successful skipping of every ad is not guaranteed.
3. The 72-hour free trial
Create an account, confirm your email, and sign in. Your trial starts automatically on the first verified sign-in and lasts 72 consecutive hours, measured by the service. It does not pause when Chrome is closed or you sign out. Reinstalling the extension does not restart the same account's trial.
No payment card is required, and the trial does not renew or turn into a paid subscription. Both muting and auto-skip require you to remain signed in with an active trial or paid license. After the trial expires, a purchase is required to continue using either feature.
4. Your license
A purchase grants a non-exclusive license associated with your verified account to use the purchased compatibility release and earlier releases included in that entitlement, while they remain available and work with YouTube. A later purchase does not remove access to earlier releases you are entitled to use.
A “compatibility release” is a version of MuteSkip's YouTube adapter intended to work with a particular player implementation. Ordinary selector repairs within a release you own are included at no extra charge. The license is not a subscription or a promise of permanent compatibility with all future versions of YouTube.
There is currently no limit on the number of Chrome profiles you may use with your own account. Random installation identifiers support verification; they are not hardware fingerprints. Keep account credentials private and do not sell, sublicense or share access with unrelated users. Sign in to the same verified account to restore an eligible purchase.
5. Prices and future compatibility releases
- Initial purchase
- US$7 total for the current compatibility release.
- Qualifying upgrade
- US$2 total for the current later release if your account has a qualifying paid order that has not been fully refunded and is not subject to an unresolved payment dispute.
These totals include applicable indirect taxes. The amount is shown before you confirm payment. A bank or payment provider may apply its own currency-conversion charges. There are no subscriptions, automatic renewals or automatic upgrade charges.
If you skip several compatibility releases, one qualifying US$2 upgrade activates the current release; you do not pay separately for the intermediate releases.
YouTube can change soon after a purchase. If your release stops working and a later compatibility release is needed, that later release may require another US$2 payment even if your previous purchase was recent, where the law allows it. You choose whether to purchase it.
This pricing rule does not make you pay for a repair, security update or other remedy that we are legally required to provide without charge. It does not remove your rights when the product fails to meet the contract. See Consumer rights.
6. Payments and delivery
Purchases are initiated from the extension and completed on Creem's hosted checkout when that service is enabled. Creem handles the transaction and issues the payment receipt. Google and the Chrome Web Store do not process these payments.
Paid access is added to your account after payment is verified. A checkout return page by itself is not proof of a completed payment. If you paid but access has not appeared, refresh access in the extension or contact us with your account email and receipt reference. Do not make a second payment to resolve a delayed confirmation.
Your transaction is subject to the amount, product and terms disclosed before payment. Changes to future prices do not create new charges for an order you have already completed.
7. Our 14-day refund policy
You may request a full refund for an initial purchase or an upgrade within 14 calendar days of that purchase. This policy applies separately to each transaction.
Send your request to support@muteskip.org with the email used for your MuteSkip account and your order or receipt reference. A reason is helpful for improving the product but is not required under this policy. Do not send your password or card details.
We will arrange eligible refunds through Creem without undue delay and within any deadline required by applicable law. Creem processes the payment reversal; the time before funds appear depends on the payment method and financial institution. If you cannot resolve a payment issue with us, you can use Creem's customer portal or the support route on your receipt.
When a full refund is confirmed, that order no longer grants access or counts toward upgrade eligibility. Other valid, non-refunded purchases remain in effect. A partial refund does not remove the license unless that is part of an agreed resolution or required by law. Previously issued offline authorization can take up to 72 hours to expire; this does not extend the refunded license.
After 14 days, contact us if the product is faulty, was not delivered, or you believe another legal right applies. The end of our voluntary refund period is not the end of your statutory rights.
8. Your statutory consumer rights
Nothing in these terms limits rights that cannot lawfully be excluded, including applicable rights to withdrawal, conformity, necessary updates, repair, price reduction, termination or a refund. These rights may continue after the 14-day refund period and can differ by location.
Installing or using the extension does not, by itself, waive a statutory right to cancel. If the law permits an early-delivery exception for digital content, any required express consent, acknowledgment and confirmation must be obtained through a valid purchase process. These terms do not create that consent. Our voluntary 14-day refund policy still applies.
The compatibility warning and optional upgrade price do not remove remedies for a product that does not perform as promised. No provision excludes liability for fraud, deliberate misconduct, or any other liability that applicable law does not allow us to exclude.
9. Verification and service availability
An internet connection is needed to register, sign in, activate a trial, purchase and periodically verify access. Paid authorization normally refreshes daily and can remain valid for up to 72 hours from issuance during an outage. A trial ticket cannot extend the trial's end. Once cached authorization expires, the extension needs a successful verification before either feature can continue.
The extension depends on Chrome, YouTube and account-service availability. We may make changes needed for compatibility, security or legal compliance. We do not promise uninterrupted operation, but our contractual and mandatory consumer obligations still apply.
If we permanently discontinue authorization services, we will give reasonable notice where possible and address existing purchases through a lawful continuity arrangement or the remedies required by applicable law. A service shutdown does not automatically erase rights attached to an existing purchase.
10. Responsible use and account access
Use MuteSkip in accordance with applicable law and the terms governing services you access. Do not forge license credentials, interfere with security or payment verification, fraudulently reset trials, or misuse another person's account or payment method.
Access may be restricted where necessary to address fraud, security threats, a material breach of these terms or a legal requirement. A disputed payment may temporarily cease to qualify for license access while the dispute is reviewed. Contact support if you believe access was restricted in error. Any restriction remains subject to applicable consumer rights and a lawful resolution of the dispute.
You may stop using or uninstall the extension at any time. Uninstalling does not automatically request a refund or delete your account. Account deletion and data handling are described in the Privacy Policy.
11. Changes, governing law and contact
We will publish revised terms with a new effective date and give notice of material changes through the website, extension or email as appropriate. Changes apply prospectively and do not retroactively remove existing purchase rights. We will obtain agreement where the law requires it.
These product terms are governed by the substantive laws of the People's Republic of China as applied in mainland China, excluding its conflict-of-laws rules, except where applicable mandatory law requires otherwise. This choice does not deprive consumers of protections that cannot be excluded under the laws applicable to them, including mandatory protections in their country of habitual residence.
Competent courts and available consumer dispute-resolution rights are determined by applicable law. These product terms do not impose mandatory arbitration, an exclusive foreign court or a waiver of statutory claims. Creem's separate transaction terms remain applicable as described above. Chrome Web Store policies govern distribution requirements; using Chrome does not by itself select the law governing your purchase.
